Truly, the best blessings from God, which He gave to us or has enshrined for us, are our parents. So , islam encourages one to respect, love, and pray for one’s parents. Therefore, the physical and spiritual wellbeing of our parents is crucial in the maintenance of family harmony and rewards from Allah. The Quran and Hadith mention the value of showing good treatment to the parents and seeking Dua for them. In Surah Al-Isra (17:23-24), Allah commands:

“And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.”. But if they try to make you associate with Me of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me [in repentance]. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.”

It is a way of showing gratitude and compassion for your parents. Their rights are safeguarded, and they get all the love that you have to give them, even when they are not with you.

Recommended Duas for Parents’ Health and Life

Here are some beautiful and meaningful duas you can recite for your parents:

For Mercy and Forgiveness:

“Rabbirhamhuma kama rabbayanee sagheera.”Translation: “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.”

This dua is based on Surah Al-Isra (17:24). It is an effective dua to pray for mercy from Allah towards your parents.


For Health and Long Life:
“Allahumma rabban-nasi adhibil-ba’sa ishfi antash-shafi, la shifa’a illa shifa’uka shifa’an la yughadiru saqama.”
Translation: “O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the adversity and heal. You are the Healer. There is no healing but Yours, a healing that leaves no illness behind.”

You can offer this dua to the Allah frequently asking Him to give your parents good health.

For Favor and Prosperity:

“Rabbana hablana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a’yunin waj’alna lil-muttaqina imama.” Translation: “Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.”

Even though this dua is offered by many to their families, it actually holds good wishes and wishes for good well-being for the parents also.

For Ease in Old Age:

“Rabbana-ghfir li wa li-walidayya wa lil-mu’mineena yawma yaqoomul hisaab.”Translation: “Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.”

This all-inclusive dua from Surah Ibrahim (14:41) is for the spiritual and physical ease of your parents in this world and the Hereafter.

Actions to Complement Your Dua
