    “Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”

This dua was made by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and Prophet Ismail (peace be upon him) when they were building the Kaaba, asking Allah to accept their efforts.

  1. Dua to Ask for Goodness and Acceptance
    رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
    Transliteration:
    Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir.
    Translation:
    “My Lord, indeed I am in need of whatever good You would send down to me.”
    (Surah Al-Qasas: 24)

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ

    “O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being.”

Making With Praise And Salawat

Pray Sincerely
Let your heart concentrate and become sincere when doing dua.

Lift Your Hands
Raising your hands for dua indicates humbleness and surrender to Allah.
Allah may answer your dua in ways: He may grant your dua, delay it for a better time, or replace it with something better. Trust His wisdom.

Haram Earnings
Make sure your earnings and lifestyle are halal. Haram money can delay the acceptance of duas.

Special Times for Dua

There are certain bless times for making dua such as:

Tahajjud (last third of the night).
Fridays, especially after Asr.
Between Adhan and Iqamah.
On Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Decree).

Examples of Dua in the Sunnah

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught many beautiful duas for acceptance:

  1. Comprehensive Dua
    “O Allah, I ask You for all good, immediate and delayed, that which I know and that which I do not know. And I seek refuge in You from all evil, immediate and delayed, that which I know and that which I do not know.”
  2. Dua for Guidance
    “O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, pardon me among those You have pardoned, and protect me among those You have protected.”

Trusting Allah’s Plan
We may wish for our duas to be answer right away, but we must trust in Allah’s timing and wisdom. He knows what is best for us and may answer our prayers in ways we never expected.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“There is no Muslim who calls upon Allah with a dua that does not contain sin or breaking of family ties, but Allah will give him one of three things: either He will answer his prayer, delay it for a better time, or ward off an evil equivalent to it.”
